To all bored moms:

Today I was watching the Oprah Winfrey Show, and Adam Lambert was a guest. His fame started with American Idol last year and now he is a star. On the show he was telling Oprah how in December there were a couple of frustrating weeks dealing with sound checks, photo shoots, contract signing, etc. He was feeling overwhelmed. But soon after he realized that his fame might not last forever. That thought made him change his attitude toward the present. He thought, I must live in the present and enjoy it for however long it lasts…I might not have this in near future.

And I thought about myself and how I am a new mother. How it’s just me and Elena. There are times when I feel bored and wonder if my brain lost many thousands of cells while looking at facebook, and other potentially mind wasting activities. Now I’m thinking that I need to do a better job with my present, with my today. How I need to live the moment and make it more fulfulling. I believe that with a little more initiative and planning, my days can be more exciting. I can work on things NOW that I probably won’t have time to work on in the future. I have continuing education, genealogy, maybe on-line classes, that I can better get involved with at this present time. After all, it’s just me and Elena and a LOT of precious time. How lucky I am to have this time to do many great and wonderful things. So just like Adam Lambert, my attitude needs to change. I must live in the present and enjoy it.

So true- because even though sometimes the down time seems endless, and you're bored from being home.. you're gonna miss this time later. Time with just you two. Thanks Gen!

I think it's apt that Oprah taught you this. :)
