Correcting the record

We were surprised how many responses from family we got on the last post! I first got an email early the next morning from Debbie (one of Genny's sisters) telling me to just go buy some shoes. Next it was Katie (another of Genny's sisters) calling us on the phone. She immediately asked me what Elena's shoes size was and wouldn't settle for "I don't know" or "maybe 6 or 7 or 8 not more than 9..."

The post was definitely not intended to cause any concern. I shared it with Genny before publishing and we both had a good laugh. Perhaps my humor came across too dry for anyone to appreciate as we did. The story was a bit embellished.

In reality, for weeks (maybe 2) we haven't been able to find one of the shoes of Elena's main pair of shoes. However, Genny was using Elena's cute white church shoes whenever they went places where shoes were required. Last Friday, our friends were married and we let Jorelle borrow Elena's church shoes for her daughter who was a flower girl. We forgot to get the shoes back, which was the real point at which for a few days (not weeks) Elena was without shoes except for rain boots. Being in Seattle and it raining on and off all week, it never really became a necessity to get back her church shoes.

Fortunately, the next morning (after writing this post) Genny found Elena's missing shoe in the car! - although she rarely wears shoes anyway. :)

We promise that Elena is having a happy childhood :)
