Adapt

a·dapt  /əˈdapt/
Verb
  1. Make (something) suitable for a new use or purpose; modify.
  2. Become adjusted to new conditions.

I remember when we first moved, I worried for Elena (and myself!).  She constantly asked for her old friends, and I couldn't give them to her!  Since then, she has learned to adapt to her new surroundings.  And now she is happier.

I remember when I was anxious if I didn't get out of the house EVERYDAY!  Since then, especially with two children, I've learned to adapt to indoor peace as well.  And now I am happier.

I guess if we don't adapt, we won't survive (emotionally in this case).  Right Darwin? DARWIN?!?!
