new camera

So our camera broke a couple of months ago.  Dan has been idolizing over a new one and it arrived in the mail last night....  He took pictures today.

Let's feature Michael.

Michael is our early bird.  Today he was up at 6am and fortunately laid down with me till 6:45am.  Better than pulling off my blankets and demanding food!  Dan got up and fed him breakfast.  Cute kid:

Later in the afternoon we went to the beach.  I'm going to run though a series of pictures to make a point.
La la la.  I am having so much fun in the water, playing with Elena:
 Oh dear...
Get up Get up Get up
That water is cold and I don't like it
I'm going to get out of here!
 Ahhhhhh!
Yes, Dan stopped taking pictueres at this point.  But, did he save him right away?  Did he scoop him out of the water as HE WAS COMPLETELY SUBMERGED?
No.
Dan daintily headed over, and AFTER making sure that his precious camera would not get wet, he rescued Michael out of the water.... while I was screaming at him.

Michael then ran to me and I wrapped him in a towel while I glared at Daniel...

Precious camera...

Dan's perspective.  In my defense :), I only took my time because Michael was managing well on himself and wasn't in any real danger and I didn't want to get my pants wet unless I had to.
Michael started to get curious about the water and I documented.  I had my pant legs rolled up to my knees because I anticipated the kids would need some rescuing.  When Michael crashed the first time, he was distraught but got back up and was not in danger and started for shore. The second wave that knocked him over caused me to worry so I stopped taking pictures and started heading his way.  He got up again but was disoriented and facing the water instead of the shore and started to walk a little deeper.  By then I was beside him just deep enough to keep my pants dry but within reach.  As I reached down to grab him another wave knocked him down and this time he fell backwards with his arms stretched out not attempting to get up.  Standard lifeguard rescue, had to get the pants wet, I lunged forward and fished him out, camera still in the other hand.
My concern wasn't about the camera which was well above the water line in my other hand, it was about getting my pants wet - although I knew for a fact before going that taking the camera to the beach would make it a topic for discussion.
