Trilingual children, follow-up (basically not happening)

On the last post, we received the following comment:

Very impressive Elena!! But how is the trilingual thing going? Can she count in Spanish and Russian yet?

I regret to inform you that our trilingual attempt did not last very long.  We downsized to two (Russian and English) and then eventually got lazy.  It's sad.  Poor children.  I guess they won't be super children or 'wunderkinds' *sigh*.  It's hard when we're not native.  Don't worry though.  We'll probably set a more reasonable goal someday, maybe 1 hour of Russian a day, or a half hour hehehehe... just to get them exposed.

But just so you know, we spoke to each other in Russian on Sunday!  And it was bad.  I wish I could recall our many errors, but I'll spare that info from you today.

Part of our conversation (for only those who understand)
Я: Ах!  Мне не нравишся!
Дан: Что? Ты ненавидишь ничего?  Значит, ты любишь меня!  Я люблю тебя тоже!!! :)

Chao!  Пока!  Bye!
Easter Sunday activity = 3 recovering sickies, 2 pajama pants, attempting to speak 1 exotic language, while driving through mother nature's finest.

 Bonus:
Easter Saturday = one little girl hoarding eggs.  she looks like a survivor.

Oh man, I didn't mean to make you feel bad for not raising a "super child" (ok, well, maybe I did a little bit). Nonetheless, I am proud of you for admitting that bilingual thing is a lot harder to stick to than most people realize. If you still feel up to it, you can always try something simple first: like singing some children's songs in Russian.

yeah, i feel guilty not speaking in russian, but it's tough man!!! I don't feel bad. You don't make me feel bad. But it's true, 'wunderkinds' are out the window. :)

let me tell you, as a preschoo teacher, please let her get a somewhat firm grasp on english. she may get confused if you try to teach her two languages at the same time. starting between 2 and 3 will be ok, but give her a fighting chance with the english thing first. just so you know, children up to the age of 7 have a pretty easy time learning a second language, so you have time.

She looks so focused and concentated with egg hunting!
I hope someday we all speak one language-"Adam's language"
